 2. Tên đề tài: Development of efficient algorithms for identification of contacts in engineering problems

Supervisor

doc. Ing. Martin Čermák, Ph.D.

Workplace

470 - Department of Applied Mathematics

Thesis language

English

Description

In engineering practice, contact boundary conditions can be encountered wherever you go, and there are several software packages, both commercial and academic, which allow these problems to be solved. An important problem, which needs to be addressed prior to solving contact problems is the very identification of contact edges/boundaries or surfaces of bodies, which are considered in the given problem. In this dissertation, the student will become familiar with problems of mechanics, which consider contact boundary conditions, description of contact boundaries for similar and dissimilar meshes (Mortary, the InterNodes method) and notably with methods which are provisionally known for identification of contacts. Upon the study of the so far published methods and algorithms, the student will choose the most optimal method for its implementation in Matlab followed by its implementation in the PERMON software package. The resulting implementation will be tested on a series of real problems.

3. Tên đề tài: Development of numerical methods for solving multiphysics problems

Supervisor

prof. RNDr. Radim Blaheta, CSc.

Workplace

470 - Department of Applied Mathematics

Thesis language

English

Description

The dissertation will focus on the development of numerical methods for simulations of coupled physical processes (multiphysics), especially problems considering the interconnection of flow in a porous medium with its mechanical deformation (hydro-mechanics). It will mainly deal with the development of efficient iterative solvers, which will also create a connection between the individual processes. The development will also concern the use of solvers, which will allow massive parallelization of computations and the use of supercomputers. The solution of coupled problems has many applications in various fields. In the dissertation, we will strive to test the developed methods at problems motivated by geosciences and geotechnics.

4. Tên đề tài: Mixed finite element method for elastoplastic problems

Supervisor

doc. Ing. Martin Čermák, Ph.D.

Workplace

470 - Department of Applied Mathematics

Thesis language

English

Description

Problems of elastoplasticity are non-linear problems, which have been solved for several decades, and its scope has been increasingly extending along with increasing precision of computations. In numerical computations, the finite element method with linear and quadratic elements is predominantly applied. The problems of elastoplasticity have recently started to be also solved using mixed finite element methods, which allow us to solve problems which were at least problematic to be solved using finite element methods. The student will become familiar with elastoplastic problems, classical and mixed finite element methods, and methods for solving non-linear problems as well as with state-of-the-art solutions of elastoplastic problems and finite element methods. At the beginning, plane-stress elastoplasticity will be addressed using Matlab with its further extension. The resulting efficient implementation will be programmed into the PERMON software package.

5. Tên đề tài: Parallel implementation of the FETI approach applied to contact problems in granular dynamics

Supervisor

doc. Ing. David Horák, Ph.D.

Workplace

470 - Department of Applied Mathematics

Thesis language

English

Description

The objective of this thesis is the application of the domain decomposition method of FETI type for granular system problems with huge number of particles. After the study of these problems formulation, the behaviour analysis of this unstructured discrete system should follow. The characteristic is that this system is incessantly changing including the interactions between particles especially in case of particles flow. Student should also study the domain decomposition methods, compare their pros and cons in the primal and dual formulations and subsequently adapt FETI approach, substitute the coarse problem which can not be applied in the standard form and all this stuff implement in parallel including suitable nonlinear solver for these time-dependent problems. Furthermore, student should acquaint with methods as the NonSmooth Contact Dynamics and NonLinear Gauss-Seidel. Student should implement the solver for the model problem firstly in Matlab and subsequently parallelize it e.g. using PETSc. As the problem generator the LMGC90 or walBerla software can be used. Next objective is to examine limits of this optimized solver, its scalability including an impact of the domain decomposition on local behaviour of the granular system.

Description

Transparent Intensional Logic is an expressive system in which almost all the semantically salient features of natural language can be precisely analysed, including partiality, non-referring terms, anaphoric references, indexicals, ambiguities, de dicto vs. de re, etc. Yet, in a logical system, we not only need to formalize sentences in a fine-grained way, but also to derive their logical consequences. In order to apply a proof calculus in this way, it must be adjusted with respect to the rules rooted in the rich semantics of natural language. The goal of the work is to propose and test such a proof calculus.

3. Tên đề tài: Scheduling sport tournaments

Supervisor

doc. Mgr. Petr Kovář, Ph.D.

Workplace

470 - Department of Applied Mathematics

Thesis language

English

Description

Round robin tournaments are represented using 1-factorizations of complete graphs. There are classical scheduling techniques, describing which teams will meet in which round. Yet, scheduling real life tournaments poses additional requirements that are not met by the classical scheduling techniques. Moreover, incomplete tournament can have further nice properties balancing difficulty for teams of different strength. In 2014 the number of different 1-fatorizarions for 14 vertices (teams) was established using a supercomputer, there is 10^18 such non-isomorphic 1-factorizations. To find the best schedule using brute force traversing all 1-factorizations for 16 or more tams seem not possible. Yet, 1-fatorizations on a limited set can be examined. The goal of this thesis is the theoretical analysis of 1-factoriations with further requirements as well as a parallelized search for such factorizations with restrictions.

Supervisor

Peppino Fazio, Ph.D.

Workplace

440 - Department of Telecommunications

Thesis language

Description

Mobility represents one of the key aspects in dynamic networks, where mobile nodes are free to move and to change network topology dynamically. On the basis of the considered mobility scenario (vehicular, pedestrian, sensor networks, aerial devices, etc.), the intrinsic relations between node positions change, so mobility stochastic properties are dependent on nodes behavior. The main aim of the dissertation is to investigate the stochastic relationships contained in the mobility traces, having the possibility to model mobility processes and characterize them by some key parameters (such as average value, variance, correlation, minimum sampling frequency, etc.).

4. Tên đề tài: Study and Analysis of 5G and VANETs Integration for IoV QoS

Supervisor

English

Description

Given that the 5G cellular network can be considered as an efficient way to connect vehicles to the modern radio technologies and realize nodes ubiquity, the network infrastructure should be huge enough to obtain the proper QoS level, especially in terms of message delivery. In addition, for the small scale communications, the modern available technologies (such as IEEE802.11n, IEEE802.11ac, etc.) should be also taken into account. Both Vehicular Ad-hoc NETworks (VANETs) and Next Generation Cellular Networks are able to reach high transmission rates, and their integration should take the advantage of the features of both technologies. The main aim of the dissertation is focused on the study and proposal of new approaches for 5G/VANET integration, able to guarantee a proper level of QoS during mobile sessions.
