On October 9, 2019, Dr. Phan Dao - Director of Bata Center and European Cooperation Center (ECC), Prof. Petr Saha – Vice-Rector of Tomas Bata University (TBU) and Dr. Tomas Saha – CEO of Chiromed Group Ltd paid a working visit to Da Nang University of Technology (DUT) with the desire to expand training and research cooperation between Czech Universities and Institutes / Universities in Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries.
On the side of Da Nang University of Technology, there are Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Huu Hieu - Vice-President, Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Dinh Lam - Head of Division of Science, Technology and International Cooperation, Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Van Dung - Dean of Chemistry Department, Assoc.Prof. Doan Thi Thu Loan - Head of Department of Chemical Technology and Materials, Prof. Nguyen The Hung and the lecturers of the University.
Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Dinh Lam introduced the overview as well as the history of formation and development of Da Nang University of Technology (DUT). DUT was established in 1975 with only 4 faculties and this number increased to 12 by 2012. DUT's international cooperation activities are diverse and special, especially student exchange activities, joint training, cooperation in scientific research and technology transfer.
Following the meeting, Prof. Petr Saha, gave an overview of TBU (history of formation, related data about faculties: Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Multimedia Communications, Faculty of Management and Economics, Faculty of Applied Informatics, etc…. especially Polymer Center and the Technology Park.
Leaders of TBU and DUT, Assoc.Prof. Hieu and Prof. Saha have exchanged cooperation issues in many areas, from student and lecturer exchange, to scientific research cooperation and technology transfer, as well as TBU scholarships to the University's PhD students.
Dr. Phan Dao, introduced Bata Center which was founded on the basis of the cooperation between Tomas Bata University and Ton Duc Thang University. Moreover, Bata center has contributed to TDTU especially on the sandwich training program that European Cooperation Center is cooperating with many Czech Universities / Universities to train at TDTU.
Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Van Dung, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, expressed his hope that two universities will have the opportunity to collaborate on research in professional fields, having exchange programs for students to experience activities like: training, cultural exchange, improving knowledge and skills, especially the doctoral program (sandwich) as well as information and conditions for PhD scholarships.
The delegation also spent time visiting laboratories of chemical and material technology. Prof. Petr Saha expressed interest in DUT's facilities and expressed his desire to accept candidates from DUT to study and research at Tomas Bata University, Zlin.
The delegation's working visit at Da Nang University of Technology ended successfully. In the afternoon of the same day, Dr. Phan Dao flew back to Ho Chi Minh City due to a working schedule with the UK delegation. Prof. Saha and the others continue to journey to Hue, visit Khai Dinh Tomb, Minh Mang Tomb, Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue Imperial Citadel.
In the morning of 11/10, Prof. Petr Saha and members of the delegation visited and worked with the Czech Embassy in Hanoi. Mr. David Jarkulisch, Czech Economic Counselor in Vietnam received the delegation. The parties exchanged issues relating to the registration of the DELTA 2 program, a cooperation program between enterprises and other partners in the application field.
The visit and work of the delegation in Vietnam was successful.
